What is #180days?
#180days is an adventure I started back in March of 2015 when I decided to just pick up, leave my stuff, and go. I had a lot going for me in Chicago; a career I worked hard for and had moved from Toronto to pursue, a city I was in love with and an incredible group of friends. It was a daring leap at age of 35 when we're supposed to be fiscally responsible, owning real estate and having a family. How does one leave everything they have worked so hard to achieve to go travel the world? Simple. You stop, think about it, and as Phil Knight and his genius marketing team at Nike coined, just do it! Easier said than done, I realize, but sometimes you need to listen to that little voice inside your head and go with your instinct.
This adventure is not about getting away or trying to find myself, as most people may assume. It's much more than that. This trip is about exploration. It's about feeling uncomfortable. It's about pushing myself out of my comfort zone and being inspiried through different cultures, experiences and the people I will meet along the way; this what #180days is about more than anything else. For all of you who are looking at my site and only wish that you could do something similar... I only hope these photos capture your imagination and drive a bold action in your life. That action doesn't need to be quitting your job or selling everything. Your action is for you to decide. What have you always wanted to do but has been too hard, or you haven't had time or it felt too risky?
The genesis behind this site is to simply share some of the unique and interesting moments I've encountered over the past few months. My photos are not meant to be professional nor perfect, but rather a small glimpse into my world through the lens of my Canon. If you are inspired, I would love to hear from you. What did you do? Where did you go? What did you achieve? As the author Paulo Coelho so masterfully puts it “there is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure."
Enjoy.
